International H2020 Project – Switch and Crossing Optimal Design and Evaluation implemented by STC group

On the end of the last year started the implementation of the first H2020 Project on the Faculty of Civil Engineering and AdMaS Center.

In the period 11/1/ 2016 — 10/31/ 2019 we participate on the implementation of an international project with a grant of nearly EUR 5 million, under the call H2020-S2RJU-OC-2016-01-2 Research into new radical ways of changing trains between tracks.

The project leader of BUT is doc. Ing. Otto Plášek, Ph.D., the project title is Switch and Crossing Optimal Design and Evaluation (S-CODE) and the project is implemented in cooperation with JU Shift2Rail.

The coordinator of the project is The University of Birmingham (GBR), the other partners are:
DT-Výhybkárna a strojírna, a.s. (CZE); Ferrovial Agroman SA (ESP); Rhomberg Sersa Rail Holding GmbH (AUT); Rail Safety and Standards Board Limited (GBR); COMSA SAU (ESP); Loughborough University (GBR); Vysoké učení technické v Brně (CZE); Univerzita Pardubice (CZE).

The overall aim of the S-CODE project is to investigate, develop, validate and initially integrate radically new concepts for switches and crossings that have the potential to lead to increases in capacity, reliability and safety while reducing investment and operating costs.
